These pieces are made from mixed porcelain and stoneware clay bodies for the bark, and porcelain details for the fungi. Most have been fired unglazed to let the beauty of the porcelain shine through.
Fantastical fungi
These fungi-covered tree bark tiles were inspired by a fascination with mold, mushrooms, lichen and other foresty finds. The soft and smooth texture of the porcelain “fungi” combined with the rosey color of the clay “bark” lends a pretty, feminine sheen to these pieces, making them more approachable and friendly and touchable than the real ones you might see out in nature.
